911SC 1982 Under the roll bar/Targa Bar
In the the process of getting my 1982Targa ready for paint and then the restoration.
When I took the black trim off the 'roll bar' I took pictures but they are now missing - Does anyone have good clear pictures of what should be there apart from the felt ? (I assume that is correct !) I recall some very rotten foam but not sure if that was original...Got a long way to go but wanted to get this sorted out and off my 'to get' list Thanks

Not 1982. Mine is 1987. But, I just disassembled recently.
Your pic looks mostly like mine, except I have a second foam strip. If you think '87 is close enough, and want more pics or info, PM me.

BTW, What is this glob of putty for? It is original Porsche factory applied. Just not clear to my why.

Also (and I know this is trivial) what is the preferred replacement for the thin foam strips? The original stuff looks like open-cell foam about 1/8" thick by 1" wide. Big box stores sell neoprene weather stripping, but that's higher density.
I assume the foam is just anti-rattle protection. Any reason the firmer neoprene won't work? |
