911SC 1982 Under the roll bar/Targa Bar
In the the process of getting my 1982Targa ready for paint and then the restoration.
When I took the black trim off the 'roll bar' I took pictures but they are now missing - Does anyone have good clear pictures of what should be there apart from the felt ? (I assume that is correct !) I recall some very rotten foam but not sure if that was original...Got a long way to go but wanted to get this sorted out and off my 'to get' list Thanks ![]() ![]() |

Not 1982. Mine is 1987. But, I just disassembled recently.
Your pic looks mostly like mine, except I have a second foam strip. If you think '87 is close enough, and want more pics or info, PM me. ![]() ![]() |

BTW, What is this glob of putty for? It is original Porsche factory applied. Just not clear to my why.

Also (and I know this is trivial) what is the preferred replacement for the thin foam strips? The original stuff looks like open-cell foam about 1/8" thick by 1" wide. Big box stores sell neoprene weather stripping, but that's higher density.
I assume the foam is just anti-rattle protection. Any reason the firmer neoprene won't work? |
