Power Window Help Needed???
It is a hot one today here in St. Louis. Hi temp is going to be about 95 and humid.
At lunch today I lowered my windows to air out the car while the A/C was cooling down. Now they won't go back up. HOT ride at lunch. The bigger problem is we could get some rain tomorrow. They went down fine, but won't go up at all. The switch on the drivers door for the passenger window seems loose. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. It has been loose for a month or so. I assume that there may be a fuse to check but since they went down fine, I am thinking that it could be something more serious. Any suggestions? Thanks

Are you saying that neither window will now go up?
The switches for the windows are notorious for failing. Cheap plastic. Mine did the same thing but only one window was effected. I replaced the switch and they work fine. Figure after 20 years the contact points wear. Another source may be the connection at the power window motor came loose or broke off. That will require you to remove the door panel to check. The window swiches just sort of slide in. A loose swith will work as long as the wires in the back are connected. You can just gently pull the switch out from the door panel. I would check in the fuse panel first since your problem came with both windows at the same time. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice...and yes, they are both down and won't go back up.
I will check the fuses at home tonight and hopefully that will get them up.

Pelican has the switches for something like $19. I recently had the same problem as you and the new switch solved the problem.
One very small thing... the switch from Pelican has a slightly "roughened" surface, while the originals are a smooth and reflective surface. The difference in appearance are very slight...but noticable if you look at them closely. Concours guys wouldnt like that. |

just fixed the problem for a friend in an DE events. since it's both windows ck the relay in the trunk fuse box area, take the horn button relay and switch them around and see if the relay is bad. our test did the job. bad relay. good luck dhsu1
