How to adjust the rear brake lights switch at the brake pedal
Hello everyone:
I have a 1974 911 coupe, and I just replaced the master brake cylinder with the proper ATE 19 mm bore tandem master cylinder. Porsche part number# 911-355-012-02 I took the pedal box out, also cleaned the rust Off the box soaked it in evapo rust and painted the necessary parts with epoxy paint and then I installed the replacement bronze bushings For the pedal shafts. Then I reinstalled the master cylinder, the brake lines. hooked up the pedal controls and installed the Original brake light switch in its spot just above the brake piston push rod from the brake pedal. Then I pressure bled the whole brake system flushed out all of the old brake fluid and filled the calipers with new fluid took the car out for a test drive and the brakes work fine. The only problem is the brake light switch doesn’t light up the brake lights so do I have the Switch out of adjustment I’m not sure what to do. I haven’t found anything on the Internet and Wayne Dempsey‘s book 101 projects doesn’t say one thing about the brake light switch adjustment. Before I removed the old leaking master cylinder, the brake system was working, and the brake lights were coming on. So I’m hoping somebody can help me diagnose if the switch is out of adjustment and how do I readjust it? Thank you Marion Fisk Last edited by Oregon 911; 02-25-2025 at 03:35 PM.. Hey, rsscotty The link to the brake light switch really helped. I found out the original brake light switch was burned out. Had to purchase a new one just put it in the car and adjusted it and it works great thanks for the information. Marion fisk
