Dash lighting, again.

I know. There are about eleventy hundred threads on this issue, and I've read about 10 year's worth.

Yup, I got burnt bulbs.

Nope, I have not fused them, yet. It's on the list.

Yup, I've see the LED solution.

Nope, I'm not wanting to go that route yet.

I understand the benefits, and to everyone who encourages me to go the CarMagic LED route, you are absolutely right.

But for right now, I need to replace two speedo bulbs. While the speedo is out for gear repair, now is the time to replace those bulbs. Please point me to the Pelican parts 2w bulbs that will work properly in my '85 coupe.

I appreciate you all, truly.

I have my gauges out and am replacing with individually purchased LEDs. I'll try to get you something by later today.

I'm the opposite to guys. I like the dash as dark as possible so I can see the road better.

I actually like this answer. I don't mind somewhat dim dash lighting.

Too bright is bad, IMO.

You can get low lumen LEDs that approximate the dim original bulbs. 2 incandescent watts is about 30 lumens, if I recall correctly.

Once I decided to cut the wires to the ignition switch and then solder and heatshrink the wires from the fuse in series, yes it took about 15 minutes.

Before all this, it took 4 hours to figure out what size fuse, package, and availability. It took about another 2 hours of trying to identify, reach and attempt to separate the connectors from the ignition switch without too much force on an old component while lying on my back. I gave up, cut two wires, then soldered and heat shrunk the fuse. If I'd started with that simple approach, it doesn't take too long. Whatever I did looks pretty good and the fuse can easily be replaced.

I offered this in the last dash lighting thread but I ordered and made these in bulk when I did mine and have some leftover if anyone needs.
