Clip on Tach?

I’d like to have a clip in tack to use in the engine compartment while tuning Webers.

I got a cheapie with a digital display, but it flails so badly you can’t really tell what it’s reading.

Any suggestions? I’m not looking to buy a full blown timing light or automotive multimeter.

Your ears should be enough to notice slight rpm changes.

I have an old tach/dwell meter with a needle type display. Works pretty good for my old cars. I am sure there are a ton of them used floating around.

I really can’t seem to pick up the change. That’s why I’m looking for a tach.

This may be a crazy idea, but…

Couldn’t I pick up a tach signal off of the CDI and use a small tach that I could clip to the air cleaner hat or somewhere that could be easily seen while tuning??
