seat rail lube
Newly upholstererd seats should be ready this week and I'm thinking the old lube should be cleaned off and replaced with something and searches here suggest white lithium grease or possibly a wheel bearing grease.
Are there any new ideas for this lube or better products? I have been successful at getting the old grease on my new drivers seat...it came out thankfully...as I temporarily installed it for a cars and coffee last wkend. Will try and be more careful this time And should I disassemble the slides for a more thorough cleaning and relube that way or just extend the slides, clean and relube? Thanks ahead. You won't have another opportunity to "do it right" for another 20-30 years. I did mine 15-20 years ago. Disassembled them to the extent possible. Used paint thinner or some solvent to clean. Blow dried with compressed air. Lubed with some grease, either moly or lithium. Both seats moved thru the full range of motion smoother and quieter.
