1971 prime fuel pump after sitting?

My 1971 911e been siting for 8 months, It cranks but doesnt seem to get fuel. If the fuel has drained / evaporated out, do I beed ti prime the fuel pump? If so , how? Or do I just need to keep cranking for a couple minutes?

I'm looking forward to seeing other responses to your question. My '71 needs a lot of cranking before the engine starts to catch and eventually turns over. I have a carb rebuild and ignition upgrade planned to see if either helps, but in the meantime, I'm often surprised at how long I have to crank the engine before it fires. I've never tried priming the system (aside from pumping the throttle and using the throttle lever) in any way.

Two things you can try . . easiest is to spray some starter fluid in the carb and once it turns over a bit it will draw the fuel up or disconnect the fuel hose and place in a jar and turn the car over until you see fuel.

it's an "e", einspunzenpupen (or however you spell it) , trans to "mechanical fuel injection, so, no carb.
BUT, I was going to try "disconnect the fuel hose and place in a jar and turn the car over until you see fuel."
That helps!

You can use starter fluid on a MFI car too, just remove the air filter and spray in throttle bodies. Since you have MFI are you sure your cold start injection is functional?

The cold start was replaced with a little button ti squirt fuel instead. And Im pretty sure thats working. Per your suggestion next step is disconnect fuel line and see iif its pumping out .

I'm not sure if this will work on your 71, but on my 84 I was able to put a jumper on the fuse block to run the fuel pump without cranking the engine.

I used this both as an easy way to drain the tank, and a way to have fuel flowing through the system to check for leaks after I replaced all of the fuel lines and reinstalled my engine.
