Looking for help EFI ITB Tuning
Hi,
I have installed a Triumph ITB EFI setup on my 1977 911 S Targa with a stock 2.7. I purchased the kit used from a Pelican forum member. I am running a FuelOnly setup utilizing the stock distributor with SpeedDensity and a MAP signal. I have my vacuum manifold connected to 3 of the 6 ITBs, when i connected all 6, the MAP signal was too high and wouldn't work. I have my brake booster connected through the vacuum manifold. I have disconnected the vacuum for the distributor as I believe the vacuum retard is not working on the distibutor. Al Kosmal has been an immense help to get the kit running but I also wanted to check with the Pelican brain trust to see if I am missing anything. The car has problems with a cold-start but I'm not too worried about that now, I am more challenged with the idle. I have turned off all TPS adjustments and the car is running some WUE. At idle I am pulling around 45 kpa and about 13.5 AFR. My concern though is that the idle will start off around 1100 RPM and gradually increase as the car warms up. My fuel table looks odd to me as I have the used the VE Analyze and the Fuel is around 84 at idle. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1744310178.png http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1744310445.jpg |
I don’t know much about the Triumph setup, but have you verified that the ITBs are well balanced?
|
Yes, I believe the ITBs are balanced. I did get them balanced at 3 kg/hr and that is low however if I balanced them higher than the idle is also higher.
It feels like there is something I am missing but I'm not sure what it is. |
Jenvey is in the UK, suggest a remote desktop tuning session with them.
Are you near a Dyno? |
There is a dyno about 40 minutes away that comes recommended, they charge about $1k for 3 hours of dyno tuning
|
Do you have the brake booster on a one way valve? My PMOs came with a valve. Not sure if not having one would give a poor vacuum reading or not.
|
I ended up checking the timing with a timing light and it was off, I adjusted it to 5 degrees ATDC for idle and that ended up dropping the idle and it now is running pretty good.

You should be tuning using throttle as load for ITBs. Use MAP as a multiplier.
It is not possible to get ITBs to run correctly on MAP alone, and shouldn't be attempted. Anyone that says otherwise has no business tuning. |
