Lakewell Sound proofing kit

Does anyone have experience running the sound proofing kit sold by Lakewell? I'm kicking off a full redo of my interior, and know its now or never to upgrade to better sound deadening.

The Lakewell option seems like a good product. The fact that it's already cut to size should save time and hopefully result in a better job.

I don't really care about originality (Lakewell states they are made to factory specifications, provides the most original option, etc.) I just want a product that will provide the best quality and performance for the job its being asked to do...and hopefully not charged too much of a premium to achieve this

Is there any experience in the forums with Lakewell sound proofing, and how it compares to Dynomat? I'd greatly appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Chris

PS - Also looking at their rear parcel shelf to replace mine being in pretty rough shape. Found the Lakewell option clearly online with price. Also have sent a request for quote and info from Autos International, have not heard back yet. I just learned AppBizz also offers one worth checking. Any relevant experiences here would be helpful too....probably should start a new thread!

I used them before. They are based in Belgium. It is a small outfit only making interiors for 911s.
Only have experience with the interiors not with the sound deadening. Fit was very good, quality holds up well over the years.
Deal with them directly.

I don't know about the sound proofing kit, but several of us have had problems with the quality of other interior parts (Door pockets, dash), that were not even near the quality advertised. Caveat Emptor. If you have any problems, you have to return it to Belgium.

Hi Chris,

I have some experience with Lakewell sound insulation. These are pre-cut bitumen templates with a reasonably good fit. Not perfect, but good enough.
Unfortunately, the package arrived with a few small tears in the material.
However, these were easy to fix during installation.
Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the end result.

Kind regards,

D@vid

If you search here you will read mixed reviews, but I have to say that I have the opposite experience. Lakewell has been very good to deal with for me.

That said, I didn't go for their soundproofing, though it looks like a very straightforward option. I'm currently working on exactly this project on my car, with this thread as inspiration: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/843461-interior-sound-deadening-noise-reduction-thermal-insulation.html

The slope is not slippery; in fact it is entirely frictionless.

Since I am an audiophile I pay more attention than most to sound and sound proofing. I thought this article was interesting although I have not tried their product. I covered my "dynamat" with mass loaded vinyl from Amazon that is easy to install over the dynamat and under the carpet. Read this; https://resonixsoundsolutions.com/resources/what-is-the-best-sound-deadening-material-independent-testing-data/?srsltid=AfmBOoqSOvwTxiqKIlEfYDU2sXTfobcSYCimnziVg 563czHeHj6b1TPI

David your sound deadening installation looks great. Very professional !!

I recently purchased several interior items from Lakewell. Quality looks to be very nice and Wouter was great to work with.

Thanks for the feedback.

Really nice job on the install David -- better for sure than I could have done!

I'm going ahead with the Lakewell vs. Dynamat.

I should have added...I've already bought and received leather seat covers, foam and carpet kit from them, waiting to be installed and the quality looks good and Lakewell's been easy to work with.

I'd read the same complaints on the dash and other replacement items offered. My read on it after quite a bit of searching and talking to a few locally is the upholstery items seem to be very good quality, but not so good at sourcing the hard bits. I'm going to have a rear shelf made up by my installer rather than buying the Lakewell unit....costly route, more than 2x, but know it will be done right. Too much of a pain dealing with potential quality issue from overseas vendor.

I know you already bought the Lakewell upholstery, but let me strongly suggest that you buy future stuff from suppliers in the US. The convenience of dealing with a US-based supplier in a similar time zone is better, and shipping/return is much less costly and faster.
