Weber IDA'S on a 73T

Hi,
I need some advice on carb jetting. I have a 73T running IDA's. The plugs have always been blacker than I would like. I went from a 60 idle to a 55 and it drove better and slightly less black. Then I dropped to a 52 idle, feels a bit lean with popping from the engine.
I have a feeling if I richen the mixture screws it will probably be fine.

I've checked the float level with the tool that screws in the side (pa 226?) At the're both OK.

My question is, is it better to go slightly richer with the mixture and run the 52's or slightly leaner with mixture and run the 55's?

Hope this makes sense.
Thanks
Mark

55s and bpr6es plugs should work. What plugs are you running? What size are the mains, air correctors? emulsion tube number?

I'm out at the moment but I'll check.

From memory the mains are 130. I'll get the other when I get home.

The plugs are bpr6es.

Thanks for the reply!!

IW16 denso iridium plugs tend to stay cleaner.

Was running my 73T with below setup for many years without any issues, This setup came with the Weber conversion kit offered by PMO for the 73T model back in the 70s:

Weber 40 IDA 3C
Main jet: 130
Idle jet: 55
Air correction jet: 180
Emulsion tube: F1
Venturis: 30 mm

Great!! That pretty much what I have and it works well. I've always had a feeling that my timing is not right, I'll have a look at that with regards to the dark plugs.
