Sticking Weber Carb

After a day or two of driving (71 with Weber carburetors) I will come back to start the car and the throttle pedal gives me some resistance. After a harder push it unsticks and works fine. I narrowed it down to the left bank of carbs. Any idea of what could be causing this initial resistance after sitting for a day or two? I tried lubing moving areas, but didn’t seem to help much. What should I be checking?
My guess is carb gets hot then cools and metal is flexing causing something to stick until I free it up by opening throttles…

Thanks!

When was the last time they were rebuilt? Could be numerous things, from misaligned linkage to a throttle plate sticking in the bore.

They were rebuilt a couple years ago. I eliminated the linkage as the problem. Is there an easy way to check throttle plate?

When you disconnect the rear drop links the throttle shaft with all 3 throttle plates should move free and without any bind. If you feel resistance you might have to look into the shafts/bushings or one of the throttle plates (e.g. check that the set screws holding the throttle plates have not become loose).

yep, I remove drop links, and the carb feels fine when opening throttle. Wait a day or two come out and the initial opening takes a little more effort to push then pop, its free and will operate fine.
I will take a look at the throttle plates!

Sounds like sticky ethanol fuel is drying out in there and sticking the plates. How old is your fuel? Pull the carbs and clean with carb cleaner. dump the old fuel and put fresh fuel in and maybe some Stabil.

Always has fresh fuel. I drive the car regularly so the longest it sits is maybe a couple weeks, Even then I top off with fresh fuel before I park it for a few weeks.

Buy non ethanol fuel. Racing gas at a parts store is about 20 per gallon. Marina gas in WA perhaps 7. Aviation fuel, if you can get it, perhaps 6. You are forgetting about the float bowls in the Web's outgassing.
