Anybody used Lemon Squad for PPI?
 

While long distance car shopping, the site I was on had an ad for Lemon Squad.

Anybody ever used them? Good/Bad?

I did last year. Specifically asked for a paint meter to be used to test for original paint…made sure this was put in the notes for the order before they sent the “technician”. They didn’t bring one.

Told the dealer I would not proceed without meter readings. They borrowed a meter from a local detail shop. Readings were 15 and higher. Turned out the entire car had been painted and changed color.

Asked the lemon folks to make it right on the price of the inspection. They dindunoufin. Disputed charge with the credit card.

I've used them twice with varying degrees of success.

They use a network of "inspectors" across the nation so the results vary based on who is checking the car.

I totally understand the need for this kind of service but what I've learned (the hard way) is if I'm going to buy a car... I need to see it for myself.

If that means hopping a flight so be it...
