Parking Brake Cable Fitment Issues

EDIT: I bought two cables and each one has a different link on the end. One link fits with no issues while the other is too large. Both cables have the same part number with different build dates in 2022.

Has anybody else experienced issues fitting new parking brake cables through the tunnel? I bought some new Porsche parking brake cables from Pelican to replace the decayed ones I currently have on the car. PN: 911-424-551-04

The link that connects to the parking brake lever mechanism is too big to fit through the tunnel.

I took the following measurements,
Old
10.15mm wide
2.25mm thick

New
11.9mm wide
3.30mm thick

Tunnel tube diameter
11.6mm

Are you saying I need to install them from the inside of the car? If so, I don’t think that’s correct with these parking brake cables, they are removed by disconnecting the link from the parking brake handle and pulling them out from the outside of the car. Installation is reverse of removal, so installing from the outside of the tunnel and pushing the cable towards the parking brake handle.

The cable assemblies can’t physically fit through the tunnel from the inside, and you cannot disassemble the cable assemblies since both ends have links crimped onto the braided cable.

The issue is one cable has the correct size link and fit fine through the tunnel, while the other has a larger link that doesn’t fit through the tunnel. Both parts have the same part numbers and were purchased from Pelican at the same time.

wow that's unfortunate. Send it back and hope they send you the other style? Order 5 of them and hope that there's a skinny one in there and send the rest back :-D

I think I would lightly file or sand it down to size and get on with the job. From comparing your dimensions and the photo I don’t think you will affect the strength of the end
