Sun Visors Differences (repro vs original vs Porsche)

This post is just to share the differences between sun-visors.

(I've searched but never found a review)

the sunvisor on top is a dansk repro
In the middle the original from 1973 coupe
the third is the official Porsche reproduction (Bought in 2025 but produced in 2017 as stated by labels)

Driver Side sun-visor:

As you can note there are differences in the sun visor profile: the edge in the inner part has to be square and only the Porsche repro has a correct shape, both has a wrong eyelet, the vinyl color is of (too whitish for the repro, too yellow for the original)

The inner black part share same wrong profile. Dansk and Porsche Repro has wrong screw color (it should be white)

Also the pattern of the vinyl is very different

Passenger Side Sunvisor

inner side:

Dansk and porsche are smaller, the mirror frame format is different (dank is smaller and left sided, porsche repro is larger) and without the correct embossing.

The support bracket is not correct: the original has a retaining dent, is shorter and with bigger metal section

hope this helps anyone is looking for "correct" sun visors

I didn’t find that my original visors were anything special by comparison to the $108 ebay set I used.

Thanks for that. I've wondered about how the Porsche visors compared, but this is the first time that someone has provided the comparison. I bought 914 Rubber branded visors and they are ok. I just couldn't get myself to shell out the $900 for the Porsche ones, even though I'm finicky about originality on my 81 SC.

This.

It would have been interesting to have the EBay ones also used in the comparison by the OP. I have no issues with mine, originality fanatics may fret, though.

I did not like the fit of the repros that I purchased. Lacked bend where they met the door area and I could not bend them to match the originals. Decided to have my originals (never toss anything) refurbished. Texture is different and I lost the mirrors, but the snug right up as they should and look great.

i agree with you. i have no problem with repros and i mainly understand that they are an interpretation of the original piece at a fraction of the costs...
i also understand that original piece is really hard to be reproduced ( sometimes oem lost templates and old material is simply not available anymore.

my intention was just to document differences for those interested in originality...

if someone has a source for "correct" sunvisors... i think it's a great idea to post pictures
