Zenith 40TIN Top Removal
I am having difficulty removing carb tops, they have been stored a long time, all srews out and air correction jets removed but stuck solid. Am I missing something? Any help appreciated.

As I recall, you need only remove all the cheese head perimeter screws to remove the tops. The gaskets do tend to stick though. Try soaking them in penetrating oil, and tapping them with back of a screwdriver.

Well at least I've not missed something. I have soaked both carbs for days and also gave it firm taps with a soft punch just under the fuel inlets there is a small overhang but no good. Same on both carbs. They haven't been on a car for many years. Thanks for your input

Managed it! Soaked again then knife blade along joint and tapped both sides and it gradually parted, no damage!
Didn't want to do it before checking there was nothing else holding it. Thanks again Clive |
