Another 911 SC heater back date challenges

I’ve decided to back date my heating system in order to avoid the blower fan in the engine bay as many have before me.
A quick search on here reveals the challenges associated with fitting the heater ducts to the engine shroud. Which is weird because I’m sure fibreglass 911 shrouds have manufacturing repeatability of 0.010” or less….haha.
Anyway. Ordered from SM before reading on here. Got the part. Didn’t fit properly. I beat it into shape. Then the welded tab broke off. Kind got it to fit and…..my distributor is too large for it which is very strange since SM lists this part as fitting an SC. Clearly that’s a lie. Needed the one with the cut out.

Decided to order 930-106-321-01-V2-PH from Pelican as I’ve had decent luck in the past. Waited a week for shipping (I’m in western Canada) and they sent me….wait for it…..the same early duct. Which is weird because I can’t even find a listing for it on their website.
Good times. It’s Memorial Day so I’ll try calling tomorrow. Good times.

Was hoping to have this job completed before I head back to work but that will not happen now sadly.

I just went through this precise problem… some people will say to get the 930 shroud piece but it’s not precisely clear what to get or where. The aftermarket part for the left side is trash.

Here is my journey and how I resolved the issue:

If you have any questions I will try and help however with answers

Also… here was my interim solution from a couple months ago. It worked well enough, it just wasn’t as tidy as I wanted.

Appreciate the help Revs!
I’m going to see what pelican says today. If they can send me the proper 930 part number I’ll try and get that one to fit.
If not I will return this pelican part and make my own using the first SM early part I bought that’s already been modified.

This was the part I was supposed to receive

As you can see it has the cut out for the distributor which the early part does not have.

Yeah… I ordered the same part number and received the same piece of junk. Thats why I ended up just going my own way with it. The only other option I didn’t really check into is it appears Sheridan makes some kind of fiberglass left side heater duct. It’s a pain to find as they aren’t listed in the same place and the search function is not great.
