Which is the nicest trunk carpet kit our host sells

There are a couple in there, carbon fiber is out as is the quilted vinyl

There are a couple of perlon ones, one of which says it includes the snaps, unclear if they are installed or if you have to install them. There is also a listing for a bound edge plush carpet, but not much in the way of details.

Anyone with experience with these kits?

Yes, I did see the TOGX kit from ebay, but would just as soon buy it from here.

Nobody?

Sorry I can't answer your question, but I'm building out a floor and sides with ply/MDF and covering with black marine carpet - makes it much more usable and neater.

I dont think the host carries Carbone1, but i think that is the nicest one out there.

Why not just make your own, like I did.

That’s really nice… what is providing the underlying structure? Or is the carpet formed/stiffened to look that way? Is there a thread about it?

I find that the OEM to look like a cheap wet disheveled suit. I went with a maker in Poland. Carbone, they really do quality work.

You really should be making this to sell or at least selling the pattern. This looks amazing!

Do you have a DIY How-to, on this?

I did a second set of these, and I can tell you none of these cars are exact the same. I cut out the plywood based on the Carrera. You really have to have the car there and fit all panels individual. I don't think that I would make them and sell, and then nothing fits. Like Tom said above, it's trial and error, and the best is start with cardboard templates.

Here are some pictures.

On this one I extended the carpet at the left and right section where the hinges are and added a snap, so the carpet can go further up and fixed at the last snap.

Now I need to make the lock for the center door with the 3D printer.

Happy new year to all.

Amazing. Filing this away on my ever increasing to do list when, one day, I have time.

Nice! thanks for the Pictures.

I too like Carbone….just wish their name wasn’t all over it. If they are not giving it to me for free, why am I advertising for them?

What Rothaus did is amazing too. I;ve thought about something like that but using thin Starboard sheets as the base. Might be lighter than wood, wont absorb water, can be glued together (it’s plastic), and can be cut like plywood.

DIY, Carbone style ;)

Huh, mine has a single 1 inch square red and white tag with their logo. A metallic medallion by the brake master. On the backside (unfinished side of the center section facing the heater ductwork) there is a large one but nobody sees it. Have the changed?

Tobra 05-30-2025 10:27 PM

Carbone, ooh nice, and they have houndstooth upholstery for the 914 too

The way the loop carpet one is described, it sounds similar in style to the Carbone.

How did it come with the slouchy fit mouse felt lining from Stuttgart, is it because perlon is light, because there is nothing to it?

Okay, I could end up spending a lot of dough in Poland, it looks like.

Engelbert, how easy is it to access your battery, trunk looks beautiful.
Thanks
Mike

It just takes seconds to take out the panels. The bottom sections come out first and then I can just remove any of the side panels.

Cheers
Engelbert
