Sunroof fail - quick question

Driving home yesterday and the sunroof failed. The right side moves forward but the left side appears stuck. It's currently open about 4 inches. I've just started down the rabbit hole of threads here about sunroof repairs and 964 cables , etc.

I am wondering if I can just get it fully closed so I can use the car until winter and then fix it. It appears that in it's current state with the roof open a little, I can access the clips holding the roofliner in place and I could unclip them and move the liner back before trying to get the panel fully closed.

I do not want to close it and then have a problem in the winter trying to disassemble the roof to repair it.

Thoughts?

Unzip the rear flap in the headliner. Remove the lefthand panel (couple of phillips head screws). then remove the gearbox (two phillips screws) - it just lifts out.
Once the gearbox is out the cables are free to move and you should be able to get the sunroof back into position.
Sounds like one of the cables probably broke, pretty common and not hard to fix.

Thanks for the help. This worked. I also needed to pop the seven clips holding the interior panel to the sunroof and slide it back into the roof in order to push the panel all the way forward. Used some closed cell foam to wedge the rear of the panel upwards and flush with the roof.
