Shipping
good afternoon think tank. i'm in the market for wheels. Besides that, i will need a reasonable shipping company once i find what i'm looking for. any suggestions are greatly appreciated as to how to proceed with shipping.

UPS. A private seller/shipper could use PirateShip and get best rates available than going over-the-counter at the UPS Store, FedEx or USPS counter for a shipping label. I’ve taken heavy boxes there just to get weighed then go home print my own labels and drop off later.
From what I’ve read here there’s a Home Depot box size that can fit 2 Fuchs. The problems arise from the shipper that doesn’t pack enough additional padding to keep wheels separated and tight from clanging together and also importantly the side, top and bottom needs padded with foam board or 3/4” of additional cardboard. Adds weigh but protects from impact damage. Proper taping too. As far as trucking freight forwarding company, I never used this method. That may require crating (4 wheels) a tailgate delivery drop and may even require going to a terminal far away. |

thanks for the response EC. I just checked UPS and was at $412 to ship four wheels from chicago to naples fl. Pirate Ship is half the price! thanks for the info, I'm off to a good start. I hope more Pelican's will add their input as well

Heavy duty Home Depot boxes. 2 to a box. Shipping should be $100 - 150. At least that what it cost me with my FedEx acct.

Use pirate ship or parcel monkey if you don’t have a business acct.

Return addresses are simply a place to return a letter or parcel that for some reason can’t be forwarded to the address. So it can be anywhere that can accept a return and has knowledge of what was shipped.
In some instances if that box broke open and contents lost, they won’t forward an empty damaged carton and would return or notify you at the return address - Not Deliverable. Dead Letter Rule. |
