1987 911 drivers side power seat not working

Folks, the drivers side power seat on my 1987 911 has decided to freeze in the rear most position. I can hear what sounds like the motor trying to move the seat, but the seat does not move either forward or back. I can not get to the rear bolts because of the seats rear position,

Any help appreciated.

Assuming it is the same as the 928 seat base, which I think it is, there should be a manual drive in the front center(ish) area just below the front of the lower seat cushion. this is a partial bevel gear that you drive with an Allen wrench. do not try to drive it fast with a drill or similar. it will be slow going when driven by hand, but trying to drive it fast runs the risk of damaging the gear since it is only a partial gear and therefore has intermittent engagement.

It is exactly the same for the '87 911 seats. Since your issue is with the driver side, the manual adjuster is closer to the driver side door...

There are some good threads here that demonstrate the usefulness of good electric contact cleaner. You might get lucky and get the seat to operate properly. I did!
