Dansk and SSI for my 3.2 to 3.4 conversion question...

I have been online all morning searching the threads to verify some things.

I want(ed) the newish 3.2 41mm OD SSI heat exchangers for my build but have heard/read that Dansk bought them awhile ago.

I see photos of the exact same sets being sold from vendors here in the US and Europe pretty much all showing the same photos of either SSI or Dansk heat exchangers but at completely different prices.

So, same photos of the HE's but labeled SSI or Dansk. SSI are always more expensive.

This is the product and has been listed SSI or Dansk:

SSI seemed to reign supreme through the years but most threads I have read this morning were from the early 2000's to mid 2010's, so not helping me in that regard.
ALSO, most were dealing with the 38mm OD for the smaller engines and not my 3.2/3.4.

Maybe some have recently purchased the Dansk and have some input OR maybe there are SSI legitimately still out there or all they all Dansk/SSI now?

OR....I just stick with a premuffler and sport muffler and keep my factory HE's???

Any guidance or input is much appreciated!

Erik: I bought the newer/larger 41mm Dansk SSI heat exchangers for my 3.2SS project a couple years ago. My photos of them were from the top, but I think the bottoms are marked 'SSI', as Dansk evidently bought all rights to the SSI name. I use them in conjunction with the 84mm outlet high-flow Dansk 2-in/1-out muffler that looks like the factory muffler except it extends several inches more, and rearward instead of at a 45* angle. It's pretty loud (good), and it seems to flow a lot of air.

I had read some comments some years ago stating the Dansk versions of SSIs were lacking in quality compared to the original US-built versions. But not so in my case. These newer ones are top quality. Dansk makes at least 2 versions: one for my Euro SC (thin flanges), and another for 3.2L Carrera (thick flanges). I recommend emailing Dansk directly to ensure correct part numbers for your application. If you want more details, just PM me, and I'll dig up my old emails and records and purchase details to assist you.

Thank you for the input!

This was my concern about the quality of one vs the other. Through the years, actually 10 plus years ago now, SSI were the best in quality, but now with the "merger??" and throw in the new 3.2 versions I have no clue.

My mechanic here in the Midwest has ordered some Dansk products and they came with SSI and Dansk packaging so we are both scratching our heads a bit.

So, I came here looking for answers. Quality is my main concern...as stated price with "labeled" SSI is higher than Dansk, same item per photos on the websites.

Thanks again and hopefully others chime in.

SSI on one site is listed at 4200$

Dansk on another sites is listed at 2600-2900$

Both show the same photos.

at those price differentials, it sounds maybe like one is polished stainless and the other is plain steel?
