Cool Took a friend from the gun club for a ride today. LONG

(Friend) "Wooow is that really yours?"...."Can I try it, I've never even sat in a Porsche before?"

(Me) "Erh it's a bit different to most cars". "Odd gearchange, bottom hinged pedals, you wouldn't get the full experience if you were to drive it yourself." (I always hear funny sounds from the gearbox when I let other people drive my 911 so I wasn't keen on him driving.)

I get in the drivers seat, he goes in the passenger seat. We start driving...

(Me) "We have to wait a little with the fun because it needs to warm up first". "It has has dry sump lubrication you know, 13 liters of oil needs to warm up".

(Friend) (Not listening)"Wooow I'm so surprised!" "It's not at all noisy and it's so smooth". "It's so smooth" (he looks very impressed).

We drove around for a while, nice and easy. He kept repeating; "It's so smooth".

Later when it's warmed up I floor it in third at very low revs.

(Friend) "It's has very good mid range pull" "Where does it really start to come alive?"

(Me) "Around 4000rpms".

Then I do a couple of full power accelerations up to about 100 mph.

(Friend) "Woooooow....DAMN it's fast" "I used to ride a motorcycle so I'm used to high speeds, but I never thought a car could be this fast" "Is it all standard? No it isn't, is it?"

(Me) "It's mostly standard."

(Friend) (Not listening) "It really sounds beautiful" "Listen to it, almost like an animal....it screams."

THEN IT HAPPENED:

(Friend) "It sounds much like a BMW."

Oh well and I was just beginning to feel good

i was always under the impression that firearm ownership was very restricted in scandanavian countries. it's great that you are able to enjoy shooting it's a fun sport.

Yes, but it seems to be suffering more restrictions everywhere.

I thought every family was required to own an assault rifle in one of those countries, but I could have it confused with a different one. Makes sense to me though, grow up with guns in your daily life so they aren't just the thing that you go to as an excuse to go nuts. It changes your whole view of them, so no accidents occur.

It's Switzerland. Most adult males serve part time in the armed forces and keep their assault rifle at home. One of the highest per capita of private firearms ownership with lowest problems.

Ahh, Bell, good point! I once almost broke my windshield when a smart a$$ed passenger didn't think he need to be belted in. fortunately he hit the dash when I showed him the brakes and not my windshield

Heh heh heh. I did "demonstrate" the brakes, but I warned him first. He immediately asked if I had modified brakes. Nope...all standard. (Made me feel all proud).

Glasgow

I like the M1. Better looking than any M3 ever made.

What you should've done was go around a corner. I did that one time impressing someone who drove mustangs telling me that the car was ok but no real power pusher. Then i took a turn and he left my car later still pale , he said that he could never even take that corner at half the speed i did in his stang without being wrapped around a tree.

Thats funny to..... I remember taking a 90degree street corner at probably 50 or so in my old 69 Spitfire and watching with glee as the poor olf in the 5.0 that was trying to follow me went off, he did miss the tele pole though About a mile later and several turns, he caught up and past, well blew me off, but his passengers all gave me a hearty thumbs up, clearly not the finger. Now thats definitely a victory for a small car against goliath.

I thought my brother was a retard for getting a "deal" on a Corvair. He took me for a ride, he went into a parking lot and started turning the wheel back and forth floored in second gear. I had a few welts on my head from hitting the door and the steering wheel and vent window and ......
