Tips for removing 911sc fuel feed steel lines?

Anyone have any tips for breaking the green steel fuel feed lines where they connect to the tunnel lines? I have a set of new tunnel lines from Len, but am getting absolutely now where trying to break the old steel lines loose. Been soaking them in PB blaster and have tried cheater bars on a flare wrench but they are refusing to budge. Normally I'd say apply some heat, but given this is a flammable area that's probably not a good idea.

Just did the same.. no heat, the collar from the steel lines are the ones you want to loosen. Constant pressure won't loosen them. I held both ends with open wrench with pressure then gave the wrench a quick hard wack with a hammer. She's off.

I used a small hammer since I didn't have space between the ground and the car.

You did drain the fuel system completely, right ?

And you aren't gonna reuse those metal lines, right ?

Yes, I've drained it and originally I was planning to re-use them, but after seeing how corroded the fittings are and further inspecting the steel lines, i'm not going to reuse them. I talked to Len and he can make a set of new feed lines for me as well since the green lines are NLA, but I still have to get these out so I can pull the new tunnel lines through.

For anyone interested, I tried the suggestions and couldn't get the lines to break free so I had to use a cut off wheel to make some relief cuts in the green steel line fittings. I needed to replace them anyway, but was hoping I could avoid breaking out the cut of wheel.

For anyone tackling this job it really pays to review Len Cummins comments around this project. You need to remove the transmission cross mount for access to the tunnel to steel hard line connection. Caution that you must support the transmission with support removed! Just know that the steel lines that go up into the engine compartment have take a 17mm wrench. The factory tunnel lines take an 11mm open end wrench. The factory lines only have two flat spots to fasten wrench to. Vice grips may be required as long as you are replacing the old lines with new ones from Len. I used an old leather belt to pull the soft tunnel lines down for better access and leverage for wrenches.

Hahaha! Well spotted! The Italian leather has held up well, the buckle not so much. Also useful for pulling the spring clamps on VW valve covers!
