Very cool. How did those semifore (SP?) turn signals work anyways?

Type911 07-07-2003 01:27 PM

To operate the Semaphores just turn the dial in the middle of the dash left or right.

Nostatic- funny you should post that pic, I was just thinking about that car the other day...one that got away !

Here is a nice Zwitter for sale, I cant seem to post a pic,

how cool are the matching glovebox areas? I guess with the stock acceleration you didn't need to worry about anything flying back towards the driver on launch...

I love the steering wheel too.

HA! I had no idea what that was! The first thing to come to mind was "cool - they built a handle for pushing the car!!" HA! :D

I forget the years that a split window ran through ? From the inception thru 53 0r 54 ? anybody ? I do remember that I didn't see them very often if at all . I recall one I put a note on to see if they were interested in selling it in the Santa Monica area back in about 1974. It was white and they never called.

The oldest one I ever had ( it was a girlfriends ) was a 59 and I remember there was no gas gauge just a lever on the floor board you would flip over to reserve and we did a bunch. It had a small oval rear window but not split.
:D

Guess which one has the:

1. Greater head room?
2. Wider track?
3. Longer wheel base?
4. 205/55/16s all around?
5. 245 TQ/ 225 HP?

Yup, it is the Bug!!!

Type911 07-07-2003 03:01 PM

Split Windows were built up until March 1953,
Oval windows were model year 1954-57

My 60 Beetle also had the reserve lever, 1st time I went to use it car died on the I-5 near downtown PDX, come to find out the reserve fuel tap was clogged

I do recall seeing the door post turn signals on cars with just the small oval, did they light up ? SmileWavy

tsuter- Your bug sounds like a beast. What have you done to it to get those hp and tq numbers. The most powerful production model that I know of is the Turbo S with 180hp.

BlueSkyJaunte 07-07-2003 03:51 PM
