New keys with new ignition switch

I bought a replacement ignition switch from my local Porsche dealer. It has a 964 part number. The included keys came with absurdly small heads. Are these intended to fit into a larger key head? There isn't enough leverage the way they are.

I also replaced my ignition with new Porsche Original. And came with the same key set you show. This was circa 2014.

I tried using them, but had to use pair of pliers to twist key in ignition.

Then, I bought a key head from our host.

It's pricey @ $52. But, looks good, and serves its function well. You just pull the key stem out of the small head and insert into the new larger ones.

Oh, you know have to carry two keys, right? One for door, one for ignition. You can have the doors re-key'd, or if you are inclined and have tools, do that yourself. My local air-cooled shop/tech offered to rekey for me @ 1 hr labor per door, so almost $400 to re-key.

I'll keep on carrying two keys.

Good luck!

I did the same and bought the key head from Pelican, works great. It still seems crazy that for the price we pay for the switch that it does not come with 2 full keys.

Agreed!

I bought a code matched switch from Porsche, so all my keys are the same. I had previously purchased a code matched replacement key from Porsche. The replacement key came with the correct early key head. I will be buying one of the lit key heads from our host to finish my project.

The code matched switch seems to be a dealer only item. I had to show my registration and an id at the parts counter.

I faced the same problem. Needed three keys to operate all the ignition/locks. I removed the door cards myself, removed the door lock tumblers, glove box tumbler, got several key blanks from our host, and took the whole flamboozal (with the new but worthless ignition key) to a competent locksmith or Porsche technician with the correct assortment of tumbler parts. I got back three new keys that would work everything (meaning I only carry one key in my pocket). Also carry a pair of pliers in the tool bag to work the worthless keys in an emergency.
