Help with replacing rusty door glass holder

Hi everyone,

My window stopped working the other day. I found this glass holder/chanel at the bottom of my door.
It looks pretty rusted and I'm wanting to replace.

Does anyone know if it can be done with the door trim removed though the bottom of the door. Or is it a glass out/frame out job?

Thanks

Other experiences may suggest different but I think you need to take the glass out of the top of the door after removing the frame. It would be ridiculously fiddly to try it in situ. Make sure you take the opportunity to give everything a good clean and lubrication whilst it is stripped.

I left the glass in the frame and duct taped it to the top to keep it out of the way.

the bottom was rusty so I threw away the rubber, and following John Walkers recommendation, filled the "trough" with Sika 291 then shoved the VERY clean glass back in. Wind the window back up and Leave it a few days for the 291 to cure.

I was jus t going to suggest that. Cheap and dirty fix. Just be sure to get the channel in the same place on the glass, because there's no adjusting it after the cure. Sikaflex 291 or 292.

A good time to say thanks john. I did your recommended fix, umm, 8 years ago and it's been fine ever since.
