Rear seat part question
Ok fellas: … it’s been a bit, as I have been away from “stuff” for a while (life, right?)
This evening, it occurred to me while I was fussing in the P-car that my rear seat is missing ‘something’ —- I believe to be 911 522 561 60 “intermediate part” — so that my rear seat backs can stay in the upright position. I do not know why this part would be unavailable, and further don’t know why it would not be in the car now (ie: what advantage would some past owner have by removing this and then rendering the seats basically unusable.) Nevertheless, with a youngster at the age where I may be able to take him along for a ride —- I’d like to make these rear seats actually work properly. Any suggestions? … “ 911 522 561 60” is NLA. And I cannot seem to even get an image of this thing to know what all is missing from this mess…… Alternatively—- I may not be missing parts, but instead do not know how to make the seats stay in the upright position by proper execution of the little red-button here…. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1752804487.jpg Any input here would be nice: a quick check of the various interwebs leads me to believe that I may be making a part in my future. |
It almost looks like the hinge bolt has been inserted through the spring pin holes.
Pardon the surface rust (working on it), here's a pic of the way mine align (caveat, mine is 1987): http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1752808212.jpg |
Well, I'll be jiggered. Stumbled on this thread that references your situation. Later style seats in an earlier style body?

Thank you for that …. I even did the search before posting; and did not find that thread. I am thinking that I could come up with a way to make a bracket of some sort rather than use a snap-strap, even though I am sure that a chunk of leather and a couple snaps would do the trick for cheaper and easier.
Disappointed that a PO of this car did a real number on it, this item included. |
Mine (79 SC coupe) has leather straps on top of the rear seat backs to secure them. Can it be that your car received some new style seats somewhere along its life?

I think that style of rear seats started sometime in 1985.

This is also a helpful thread, with great pictures: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/993501-trying-keep-back-seats-up.html You could probably fab up something from a piece of aluminum and rivet it in place. BTW, I think you are looking for the wrong part. From the thread I linked, I think it is 91150104102. Pelican shows that as NLA too, but you can find the part elsewhere if you Google it. Not cheap though, looks to be about $200. You mentioned kids in the back - did you install three-point belts? That would be a priority for me too. Mark |
