What's this plug?

I wasn't sure whether this should go in the engine rebuild forum or the technical forum so I posted it in both.

The cap fell off this 3-prong plug in the center of the engine compartment. I found the cap, but now I'm wondering what the plug is for? The #s on the cap don't bring anything up in a search.

Thanks.

It is the top dead center sensor connection, but it is not the one used for ECU reference position.

So it should remain unconnected as you found it. I believe it is used only at factory and after engine rebuild maybe.
