Brake Part Recommendations
 

I planning on removing-and-replacing the majority of my 1984’s brake parts... and I am requesting recommendations for which brands of parts to buy. My car is mostly used on the street and occasionally autocrossed. I plan on replacing the master cylinder, calipers, pads and rotors (as a minimum). There is nothing major wrong with the current system, but since I have the original master cylinder and 3 out of 4 calipers, I figure they are due for replacement. My car has about 119,00 miles. I plan on buying the Uro master cylinder and PBM Performance rebuild calipers from our host. I have no idea which brake pads or rotors to buy. Any suggestions? Also, any other brake parts I should get while I am in there? I have recently replaced the rubber brake lines. I have also recently rebuilt my pedal cluster which helped with brake pedal slop. Do I replace the front wheel bearings?

I'd be inclined to just fit some new brake pads to your existing setup and see how that goes. Porterfield R4-S have rave reviews.

If there's nothing wrong with your calipers and master cylinder, there's no need to replace them.

replace the fluid and put some good pads on it. I'm one of the many who is a fan of the R4-S. Check the front wheel bearings for play and grease. They're adjustable, and you can easily tighten them if needed.

I'll get some R4-S and move on.
I frequently change brake fluid and check wheel bearings.

Brake pads are an interesting decision. Too far to the Race Grade Pads direction, you get noisy street service. Race hard on a street pad you get brake fade. You can throw a bunch of money at it, like I typically do with most everything I do (like a curse). But that’s just me. I ended upgrading my ‘83 SC with Cayman four piston calipers and ‘84 and up rotors. I really like the setup, but do I need it? Nooooo

I would offer that you do two other inspections.
Brake Disk thickness, replace if out of spec.
Inspect brake flex lines.
