New G50 Cross Shaft Bushings Too Loose in Fork

Since I'm replacing my clutch on my G50, I'm also replacing the cross shaft because the needle bearings were cached.

I am also replacing the clutch fork because, well, because. The old one is not cracked that I can visually see but most things I read say to replace it with a new one when you replace your clutch. There is some wear on the forks where it meets the throw out bearing so to me it makes sense to go with a new one.

For a new cross shaft, I went with the Rauch & Spiegel which comes with oil-impregnated brass bushings that replace the plastic ones that come mounted in the clutch fork.

After removing the old plastic bushings, I find that regardless of which bronze bushing I use, one side is slightly too loose and the bearing will fall out just due to gravity.

1. I assume this should not be loose.
2. Will some JB Weld suffice to hold it in place and take up the loose tolerance?

The old fork is a tighter fit for these bushings but some of it is due to rust on the inner surface of the bushing bore on the fork.

Thoughts here?

Before you mess with it you should call R&S and ask their advice. The bushing shouldn't be that loose. Maybe it's a defective part? You might want to test fit the shaft to the inner bushing before you go JB welding it to the new fork. R&S has been very helpful in my dealings with them.

So, I reached out to R&S to get their advice. Considering both bushings fit loose in the one bore and great in the other bore their take (and mine) is that the one bore is out of spec.

They suggested against using any kind of epoxy or adhesive because the bushings are oil-impregnated. Their take is that the epoxy wouldn't hold once the oil sweats out of the bushings when they get up to temp.

Sooo, I've reached out to the place I bought the OEM clutch fork from to see if I can get a replacement.

I got a replacement clutch fork from AZ. The bushings are still too loose on one side. I returned it and am using my old one which works great.

The clutch fork from AZ does not have the Porsche symbol in the casting.

R&S sells the clutch forks, too. I would purchase from them if I need one. They're reasonably priced and DO have the Porsche symbol in the casting.
