1971 911T Parcel Shelf Replacement

Good afternoon Pelicans,

Can someone please post some pictures of what an original parcel shelf should look like on a 71 911? Mine has been replaced and we are currently going back in to remove it and my body guy would like some detailed pictures of what an unmolested, factory Porsche parcel shelf looks like installed. Thanks for the help!

Kind regards,
Sebastian

Are you talking about the metal shelf underneath the visible covering, or the covering?

If we are talking about the metal, a tidbit of information. The only difference I have seen between the early and late models is the early has a bracket to install a loop to connect a luggage hold-down strap. In straining my memory, the other end for a luggage strap is on the vertical panel behind the heels of a potential rear seat passenger, some 4-5 inches above the floor. Upper bracket shown in Blucille’s above images.

Blue’s pics look like ‘72/73 which I believe is different from the earlier cars for sure, my ‘70 has different stamping and I believe ‘71 should be the same as ‘70. It’s more than just the luggage strap brackets.

Blucille is a very early 72. 11/71 production

The two holes in the firewall just above the rear seat pad were from the PO. He mounted harnesses using fender washers.

I retract my statement. I see it is different, but isn’t it functional the same?

Seb my guy has a 69 on a rotisserie right now, parcel shelf is in perfect shape. In fact that tub is just about the cleanest, most rust free, and straightest we have ever seen. I can see if I can take some pics tomorrow, if I remember. Also, you might go take a look.

I’m picking up my POS in the morning tomorrow, as long as there is no rain.

Not unless you're converting from '69-'71 interior trim to the '72-'73 style which is built differently and mounted differently. Take a look at the brackets on my '70. They stick up through the '69-'71 parcel shelf panels and the trim rail then attaches over the top to those brackets.

The '72-'73 different. Also, if I'm not mistaken the pop out window interior trim pieces are shaped a bit differently, different lengths where they fit up to the parcel shelf panel as well.

Thanks for the pics guys. Keep 'em coming if you can. Specifically looking for detailed pics of the brackets that hold the hinges for the decklid. Thanks!
