How to Remove/Install Curved Carrera Linkage
 

I was trying to remove the ball socket on the curved throttle linkage off the end of the ball and ended up bending the linkage that the ball is on. The socket didn’t just “pop off” the ball like it did for the throttle linkage socket coming out of the firewall, for example.

After finally getting it off I realized that the socket has a little c clip in the inside:

So that clearly explains why I couldn’t easily get the socket off. But how are you supposed to remove that clip before getting the socket off?

Moreover, when I push the socket back onto the ball will it pop over this c clip?

Loosen the nut and unscrew the rod. Leave the end on the ball.

I popped mine off by prying with a metal trim removal tool.
Yes, the old one was worn hence the ease of removal.
A new clip won’t alway slip on, apply a dab of grease on both ball and cup and some two handed squeezing. If it’s crooked and not aligned it’ll be more difficult to snap over.

If still too stubborn…shim behind the bell crank plate so not to bend it, then with some very gentle squeezing with soft jaw or covered pliers to snap it over - ever so careful to align the pliers so not to deform the plate and the rod or mar the linkage.
