Vintage 911 Recaro Sport Seat Question
Hi all,
I’d like definitive information as to the years this seat was available from Porsche. What material was used, leather or leatherette? What’s the significance of the perforated side bolsters - was it an option? Most sport seats I’ve seen have smooth side bolsters & non-brick pattern centers. I was told once, this was the sport seat available for 1 year only in 1969-70 is that true? What are these seats going for now? Is there a site selling this exact seat build out there? Does anyone have these seats for sale, any condition is welcome… Thanks, P924S ![]() a close up look ![]()

The basket weave center with perforated bolster was the trim style from ‘67-‘71 in leatherette (vinyl). It wasn’t an ‘option’ like leather vs the standard vinyl. In leather, there was an embossed basketweave too.
The seats themselves had slight frame/shape changes over that same period with headrests becoming standard in Jan ‘68. Smooth bolsters and centers came out in ‘72 in vinyl with a different, heavier grain. In the optional leather, the centers had slight perforations but, the bolsters remained smooth.
