Really love your build by the way, definitely the "grown up" version of what I'm doing I think |
I still need to sort fender liners, gravel protection for rockers and belly plan. There are some composite options, but they cost a lot to get the states right now.
|
Yeah nice composite pieces would be very cool. I think I'm going to go with aluminum for the first iteration. I'm still a ways out from all that, but I did put together a couple rough CAD models for skid plates to ball park prices and it looks like I can get some laser cut for only a few hundred bucks with minimal welding/brake work.

Very nice project, lots of cool tinkering and fabrication with the custom designed and printed EFI setup, as well as all the metal work!
Looks like you also changed the front suspension pan yourself? What is your base engine and did you also change anything below the intake? Cheers, Lukas |
Thanks Lukas! The base engine is a 3.0 from an ‘83, I haven’t done anything with it yet as I’m still figuring out what I want to do with it long term. I’ll have to go forced induction at some point for hill climb stuff, so I’ll build the motor for boost and maybe go 3.2. But that’s down the road, hoping to just complete a few events this coming year with everything as-is

Making some good progress on the "cockpit" with getting the seats mounted and working on the pedal box conversion.
A lot of tricky dimensions to work around trying to comply to the rules and best practices for seats and harnesses, while also trying to make it as comfortable as possible. Feeling pretty good about where things are now, driver seat is almost fully mounted just need to weld the threaded bungs into the cross bars. Passenger seat should be quick to knock out. I have all the plumbing parts I need to convert to the hydraulic clutch pull and for the brake adapters, so once the seat is permanent I can weld in a flat panel to mount the pedal box and plumbing should be straight forward (assuming I did my homework right). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1761330807.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1761330807.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1761330807.jpg |
New flat floor panel ready to be welded in! Pretty happy with how this turned out and I was able to get the pedal box into a really good position with just a bit of massaging and cutting
