Measuring flywheels for wear

Hello everyone

I’m restoring my 76 911 and my 82 SC with attention to both flywheels. In reference to Wayne’s book on page 212 it shows side views of flywheels with some specifications listed as 8.5 mm at a point from the clutch surface to the backside.
Now this value the book says is from the clutch face to the backside as 8.5 mm, thus am I reading this correctly or what am I missing. 8.5 mm is a very thin section.

Thanks in advance.

76 911S
70 914
67 912

2022 C8 corvette

Flywheel

Ok thanks Tim, looks like I’m closer to 9 than 8.5.
