930 ruf 5spd conversion
 

Hi I have a 1988 930 with a RUF converted 5spd it crunches in first and is getting harder to select other gears
Have alway had to select first rolling up to the lights but
Could put it in N and disengage the clutch then select first now if I do that it crunches and all other gears are getting harder to select

Try your shift coupler.

We just did a Ruf trans for a customer. Not a big deal. Where are you located?

Try replacing all of the shift rod bushings and check coupler if you have one in the tunnel between the rear seats on the floor- not familiar with the four speeds if they are 915 type or not.

After replacing the bushings, you should do an adjustment and see if that fixes it or at least helps. It would seem odd that so many gears/synchros are all bad at the same time since the higher gears get used less.
