On my 1976 912E there is a very small cable that runs from a point by the oil dip stick down through the sheet metal to a small pulley below my car. This cable has broke. What is it? Thanks

The 912E uses a variant of the 914 engine. The cable is probably for a thermostatically controlled flapper. Likely a good idea to fix it.
