Spring plate removal-'78 SC

Question for the group...

Car is a '78 SC that I've owned for 5 years. My spring plates do not have the height adjustment bolts, which tells me they're not original to the car. I purchased a set of the Elephant Racing adjustable spring plates and will install them tomorrow morning. My question it this...In addition to removing the sway bar and bottom shock mount, is it necessary to remove the calipers from the swing arm?

plates

I don't believe OEM Spring Plates have height adjustment, Only toe and camber. The height is set indexing the torsion bar splines. The Elephant Racing do have a ride height adjustment.

OEM plates would have the fine height adjustment bolts starting in 77 if not late 76. My 77 had them, my 75 did not.

So yeah, that's odd that someone would put older spring plates on an SC. You'll like the elephant plates. What bushings are you going with?

Huh, I stand corrected. I don’t recall any on my ‘72, and not on my ‘83. What were the years? (‘76 thru ?)

I see that you have measured the angle? That is good, but do it with the lower right bolt removed because it probably rests on that and you will get a false reading.

I just went with the stock rubber bushings.

Yeah, that angle measurement was put on there by a shop that previously did work on my car. I'll measure it again when I unbolt the shock and that lower right bolt. 24 degrees seems like the ride height would be pretty low.
