G body coilover sleeve + aircup ? Anyone ?

Hi there,

I was wondering .. you can get aircups for every coilover on the market .. https://images.app.goo.gl/qDiuM
I would want to know if any of you installed coilover sleeves in the front bilstein shocks ?
Would it even be possible to fit aircups to it ?

Interested in this as well.

What type of compressor is required to run them if you only run the fronts I wonder? If you have to mount a large compressor and tank, that's going to be tough unless you put it in the frunk.

There was someone in here the other week looking for a front lift system. This might work.

Pretty cool, OP. Thanks for sharing.

I think it's possible, i would have to buy the goods and try
No need for airtank .. just cups over the springs .. airlines and on of switch to compressor tucked away.
Pressure relieve to get back down .. done ..
"In theory"

I like the idea too, for me with would be a front lift system. How you fill and keep filled and air canister to operate them (where you hide a compressor) is an interesting thought.

I "think" they could work on the front as there is a lot of room in the top mount for those cups. In the rear space is more limited (don't have pice) so it might now slide up in teh hole the spring goes into to rest the top mount.

With a 1" cylinder and 100psi, you get about F = 78.5lbs of force.

Curious what the minimum is needed to lift the car a few inches.

F = P × A

Chris,

Are you using the sleeves ? What brand ?
I think it would work yes .. i had it on my old Karmann Ghia .. no need for a tank it's just quicker and takes up space !

I made the topic to see if anyone done this ..
Compressor should not matter because it would not take much to pump the cups ..

No those are my front Bilstein RSR coiler struts that have teh thread built into the strut body. On back I do have sleeves so teh shock has threads, not those sleeves should not interfere with the air cups? Unless I am missing something?

Normally not ..
Aircups are 120mm diameter or 110 is also possible .
Don't think they Will fit on the front, it would depend on Spring lenght and the position of the cup related to the top off the Strut.

Nice !

I would need to see if the cup would fit inside the space where the Strut mounts :

Would need 110mm at least ..

Did I miss it? (likely) But what is the driving force behind this? "stance" or a Front lift system for steep driveways and curbing?

Cheers

Jeff my front spoiler hits alot. I would like to lower the front a inch for a better look, (it is factory lowered) there is no way to do it in my city with out a lift even to get in my alley to my garage. I currently have to get on the curb to get in the alley.
