Apology in advance - 1987 Tire Suggestion

I have a '87 Carrera with 15's currently running 185/70's on the front and 215/60's on the rear. Need a suggestion for something relatively quiet and not concerned with the mileage rating. Thank you.

My guess is you will not be able to be picky on the brand of tires of that size.

Pirelli makes a tires for the 911, it is an old school and expensive tire. Good luck.

My car came with 15s, and I finally gave up finding a decent tire that was not an autocross gummy. I needed something I can drive in the rain, and cross country, as well as occasional autocross and track days.

I ended up buying the 17 inch Euromiester wheels and bought summer performance tires.

If it was me, I would get a set of 16” wheels and get Continental ExtremeContact Sports.

It may be wash in cost vs the Pirellis.

Pirelli CN36 in their Classic lines comes in those sizes
as does Avon CR66ZZ

also you could substitute 195/65 for the 185/70 size
here
Yokohama Touring S
Sumi HTR A/S PO2

Vredestein sprint plus are available in those sizes.

What is your intended use for the car? HPDE, Autocross, touring drives, show dnd shine, concours?

Depending on your intended use and the degree of originality you wish to keep will help decide tires and wheels.

Pirelli 6000 comes in a factory size config of 195/65/15 and 215/60/15, you can find them at Tirerack. They should be quiet and comfortable.

Nothing comes up for the once popular 205/55 and 225/50 combo unfortunately.

A052s are great tires. The 50 aspect ratio in the front (vs 55) makes for a low profile so I didn't include them. But more to that point, I have them on my '07 328i, love them on the car but I wouldn't say they are quiet.

P6000 are NLA

205/50 and 225/50 while a great performance option really wants 7 & 8s and totally changes the character of the car, Just a guess but from the OP's question I'm inferring that he is mostly happy w/ his current setup and just wishes to replace it.

Bill, I found these on TireRack. Pricey but available.

Agreed, a 50 series 205 on the front will feel every pebble on the road.

They must have been sitting on a warehouse shelf for god only knows how long, Pirelli stopped production sometime in or before 2019.
