Front suspension pan repair 1976 911S
Ok gang
Hoping I can get some advice here. My 76 911S has some rust on the front suspension pan near the 3 bolt point on the left front. I’ve replaced 2 of these pans in the past, once on my 82 SC and a 912 I used to own. I really don’t want to replace the whole pan, just the rusted area. Here is the question. I have at least what I’m told is a new front suspension pan for a 912 67 from Restoration design that I bought years ago for my other 912. Would I be able to cannibolize the part from the 67 912 pan and graft it into my 76 911. Are the pans about the same or at least the pickup point. I’ll probably call restoration design tomorrow to make sure. I just don’t want to buy a 911 pan right now when I can cut out from this 67 912 pan and graft what I need into my 911. Thanks in advance 82 911 SC 76 911S 70 914 67 912 C8 vett C5 vett A whole bunch of motorcycles ![]() ![]()

Suspension pan

I was thinking this side became bad due to battery acid and so forth. Before I cut out the battery tray it was apparent from underneath. I’ll take a closer look on the other side. Thanks John |

It helps to open it up and look inside. They rust from the inside out so it’s hard to tell how far gone it is until you start cutting.
