Need Blaupunkt/speaker Advice
I have this Blaupunkt Model # A2804711 radio from my 1970 911.
![]() The speaker cone had totally disintegrated upon removal. I now wish to upgrade the dash mounted speaker with the speakers from an unused countertop satellite Memorex speaker unit. Please disregard the time/date stamp on the photos as I haven't re-set my camera. Here's a pic for info: ![]() The woofer is 8 ohms – the tweeter is 8 ohms. The ‘transformer’ on the input panel (c/w a + & -) has a black resistor(?) with a printed tagging of 4.7uF @ 50V. The foregoing info exceeds my level of understanding of electronics. What I would like to know is; can I use these speakers to connect-up with my existing radio unit without damaging its amplifier? My 2nd question is how to best bench test this unit & proposed speaker set-up before final installation. The power input to the radio is obvious (the yellow wire); the ‘notso’ obvious is, there is no ground tab. Can I assume the chassis of the radio grounds itself when installed into the dash? Any input or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Cheers JB Go Blue Jays!!

Seems I'm dealing with a 'paucity' of information at the moment - even manufacturer's info on the Blaupunkt unit in question seems hard to come by. I'll have to be patient as I am sure someone out there must have confronted a similar situation.
Thanks & Cheers JB

That head unit looks a lot older than 1970. Most 1970 US 911s came with a Blaupunkt Frankfurt that looks like this:
![]() As for speakers, one of Pelican's competitors (SMC) shows their stock replacement speaker with a rating of 4 ohms, FYI. If you want an aftermarket solution for better fidelity (co-axial 2-ways), I'd buy new before trying to cobble something together. YMMV. |
