Gasket Set Came with Odd Ring - For Exhaust?
I'm reassembling my engine and instead of a final triangle gasket for the CAT-to-Muffler, I found this ring. It is shiny but not metallic, and looks like it would fit inside the joint from CAT to exhaust.
Is that what its for? Or should I track down a triangular gasket with the bolt holes? Is that triangular gasket a normal type I could get at the corner auto store? ![]()

That type of sealing ring isn't unusual but to work properly you do need matching angled faces to allow it work. Do you have those inside your flanges?

I think so - I took a quick look and with the ring inside the gap was mostly closed (more than the ring's thickness). I'll do a closer look after work.

That kind of ring is also supplied with the crossover pipe that is sold in two parts as a replacement for the stock pipe with an accordion on the driver side.
