Continental TR7412UB Radio install 1988 911.

It’s time to replace the original Blaupunkt Reno in my ‘88 cab. I installed new Kenwood speakers when I bought the car due to the originals being basically dust. The Reno barely powers the new speakers and distorts with any kind of volume. Not interested in separate amps or subs so I think the Continental will work for me. Question is do I need a replacement harness to hook to the stock wiring in the car or is it plug and play?

So I figured out that I need the adapter from Discount Car Stereo for the speaker plugs, good there. What I don’t know is what it will take to adapt the white plug in the pic which carries power to the new radio???

I believe the easiest way to do it would be to cut that connector off and splice the wires individually into the pigtail on the adapter harness.

Yes, thanks. I was hoping to avoid cutting the original harness by using an adapter but doesn’t look like there is one.

You’d likely have to find the female half of that connector, pins and the tools to crimp and insert the wires, and wire it yourself.

What about using the type of splice, where you insert the new wire and press down the metal piece, to join both wires with pliers. This would reserve your original connector.

I’ll do that, thanks. I didn’t think about the fact that they may have the female side of this plug.
