Porsche Transmission "Mid-Grip" Nut
Hi All,
Porsche used a nut on the LWB transmissions (maybe others too) called a "mid-grip" nut with Porsche P/N: 999.090.101.02. There is no DIN spec listed in my '72 parts catalog for this nut, so it might be Porsche unique. Does anyone know if there is a Belmetric or McMaster equivalent for this nut? Not sure if the mechanical lock is in the middle of the nut versus at the end of the nut like other lock nuts. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Dennis |

Dennis, this nut was unique to Porsche and is long NLA. It was thicker than a DIN 934 hex nut and appears to have had something like a Helicoil installed in it. Just use DIN 934 nuts... unless you are jumping down the concourse rabbit hole.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the info. I'm definitely not concerned about concourse. I need to buy some and could find any DIN info about the nuts to get something comparable. Your help is appreciated! Dennis |

The Mag trans case nuts were the heli-coil nuts in an effort to deal with electrolysis. It sorta worked, but not really. In around 76/77 they used an alloy washer, used on engine cases, with a wavy washer next and the regular 934 nut. The Mag case was abandoned by 78 so no more worries.

Hi Gled,
Are you referring to an alum washers next to the mag case? So, alum then wavy then 934 nut? Thanks, Dennis |
