Well, after installing a re-build Bosch starter today, I could see some of the ring gear teeth looking suspect through the mounting hole. ( Pics below). (confirmed after starting with the "new" starter...sounded just like the other starter "duck-squawk", "and "zing")
Have been unable to find in any of the catalogs any seller of 1969 "gear ring flywheel". Is there any other installation compatible with the 1969 E Coupe for this project ? I only want a brand new part. Also, the only photo I have reference to, on what this part may look like, is on page 66 of Bruce Anderson's Performance Handbook. Is that the part ? (Also, I have yet to drop the engine to actually see the flywheel-gear) Thanks. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Might this 912 Flywheel work from Pelican for my 911 E ? I'd like some idea before dropping the engine. Thanks:
Flywheel, 911 (from 1965 eng. no 901639, -69), New A-102-026-01 $323.90

Wow, I see teeth missing. Time for a new flywheel.
I just went out and got the part number off the one from my '69 911E sitting on my workbench ... it's Porsche P/N 901.102.205.0R. It's a one-piece flywheel / starter ring arrangement and can be seen as part #3 on the drawing from Pelican Parts: http://www.pelicanparts.com/914/Parts/914-6/914-6_case_flywheel.JPG I can't tell from the Pelican Parts catalog which one is right for our application. Looks like a call is in order to them tomorrow. Good Luck!

Thanks Charlie, that gets me off in the right direction before dropping the engine,
I just want to know what's available before-hand. Thanks.
