Cam timing specifications?

Hi folks

After reading both the manual (Haynes) and this forum (a lot!!!) the cam timing isn’t all that scary anymore. However, I have found different values/specifications for the dial gauge readings stated in different documentations – so I better get this straight!

Mine is a ’75 CIS (European) with engine # *6150250*. Haynes manual states for the “Type 2000 (901/01 - 901/05) up to engine no. 909927; the dial gauge reading to be 4.3 mm (4.2 to 4.6 mm permissible)”

- This covers my engine – right?
- Can anybody confirm that the Haynes value is correct?
- Any links on web for cam/valve timing on the different models?

Thanks...
Regards Torgeir :)

From the "1975 911/911S/Carrera 2.7/Turbo" spec book. Hope this helps:<HR>

Thanks a lot Colin!
This makes perfect sense. My engine is a 911/41 or 46 and not the 901/01 I thought from the Haynes. My cams have 141.00 and 142.00 stamped on them, and with the mild cams required for the CIS - 0.5 to 0.7 mm and 1 deg ATDS on the inlet, this sounds just right!

I just figured a 4.3 mm setting here would be way to rough for the CIS air flow sensor!

Again, thanks - Torgeir :)
