In Need Of Excel Spread Sheet for 911 Expenses
Have any of you guys set up an Excel Spread Sheet you would like to share. Would like to do a better job of keeping up with my porsche expenditures. I can always set one up but if someone has already put in the time it would be great to have. Thanks...Matthew

Don't do it Matthew! You are asking for a major headache...the one after you realize how much we are spending! :D
Just stuff the receipts in a box and forget about it. |
I have one I can send you if you care for it. I stopped using it after I reached 10K..................

ErVikingo...Sure would appreciate your spread sheet. If there is a next owner...He will appreciate it! Thanks...Matthew |
Adman,
I have it in my office, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it to you tomorrow. Cheers, Juan |
Am I missing something with this Excel spreadsheet. It seems pretty simple. I made one with the following columns: date, seller, part description, part number, expense type, # of parts, price, total price.
Is there another column I should add? |

I have one I have maintained for about 20 years. I won't mention the total expenses since it's more than I paid for the car. However, I have divided the spreadsheet into planned and unplanned maintenance. The Planned maintenance includes things like SSI's, Bilsteins, Dansk exhaust, spoiler addition, and other items that were replaced because I wanted to, not because of a failure. The Unplanned expenses are less than 20% of the total which in my mind says a lot about the true cost of owning a Porsche. I also have a column for the date the issue was first observed and when it was fixed. I try to keep this period to a minimum to prevent other related issues. If you want a copy of the file, just send me a PM with your email.

I think you guys (compulsive record keepers) have too much time on your hands. :D

If you plan to keep a spreadsheet better not let the wife find it. Best to just put the receipts in a file if needed later. Ask me, I've been there.
|
is anal retentive hyphenated? How about q-tip?
I put every receipt into a file folder and don't look at again. If asked, the last Pelican order or trip to the shop was "a couple hundred". That's my story and I'm sticking too it... |
Watch you don't get busted by your wife Todd, she may remmember your present shopping list is over $2,500 :)
|
ha! Seems like every three days there's a box at the front door from UPS addressed to her. And you don't want to know how much she's spent at the Nursery buying plants, mulch, cow poop, etc.
Besides, I sold a bass a couple of weeks ago, and actually haven't bought any music gear in a year or two, so I've got some "in the bank". Besides, until the project list moves to the shopping cart and on the credit card it doesn't really exist. |
Great idea. I've been keeping one on my 1987 911 since shortly after I bought it. Its a great way to keep track of your maintenance record especially for things like brakes, oil, AC recharge, etc. I'm still averaging about $2500 per year including tires and upgrades. To me this is low cost for a car that delivers the performance and fun the 911 offers.
|
LOL.
Plus the selfishness of it! Wasting money buying plants! Did you get the window washer pump going? |
not yet. Next weekend I think I'll have time to pull the pump out and check the check valves (or are they czek valves?). I want to get the clutch sorted first.

Take a blank spreadsheet and add the following to all the rows and columns..
$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ |
the only acceptable way to have a spreadsheet is if you have columns for "grins", "giggles", "years added to life" and "ahhhs". You then need an appropriate multiplier for these columns relative to the dollar figure.
|
I password protect my 914 conversion spreadsheet so the wife can't see it.
Of course, she's seen the 3" thick folder of receipts, but I doubt she has time to sit there and add them up. |
A spreadsheet is easier to hide than the folders!!!! Just don't keep it in the home computer, that what work computers are for!
Hey, you can also make it tax deductible if you are smart.... Call me anal retentive, I see it as cash retentive. Unle Sam is my most expensive dependent. |
