3.2 Leak injector test?
Hi everyone,
I believe one (or more) of my injectors is leaking. Is there a way to find out which one without substituting good injectors and seeing if the pressure drops over night? I was thinking of pulling the rails and injectors and placing them in 6 bottles overnight and finding out that way. I guess I'm hoping you guys knows an easier way. This a 3.2L with electronic injectors. TIA, Chris |

I think the only way really is to pull up the rails and visually inspect for drips. I would imagine that there is an acceptable drip limit...what it would be is the question. Probably old news, but Sir Bentley says residual fuel pressure 20 min. after engine shutdown should be 14.5 psi. There is a check valve off the fuel pump to maintain this. Operating pressure pump running engine off 36psi, engine running 29 psi. So one could suppose that from the residual press rating, the system will leak down quicker than overnight.
Now I don't know if this helps, but I need your expertise. I'll be sending you a PM soon. -BG |
