Electrical restoration

I started pulling the front end of my 73T apart tonight and Ive got a rats nest of wires and in line fuses in my trunk now. Some of the stuff I can identify as aftermarket AC, Stereo, etc. One of the factory wire bundles going to the fuse block looks like a rat has chewed threw it. My turn signal circuits have been severed on both sides of the car by a PO.

Can I cut/pull this mess out and trash it? Is there a source for aftermarket or OEM source for spec wire bundles for the various circuits of these cars, or will I have to get the wiring diagrams and either splice the existing or fab my own wire bundles?

Any help is appreciated.

I've got a bunch of harnesses (actually all of them I think) from a '71E Targa. Let me know if you need it.

Cool

Hey Shu.. not for nothing, but my electrical design sucks..
The big picture is that I'll do a nice re-wire w/ tinned wire & circuit breakers.. and before I started re-working with the same stuff I'd probably figure that now is the time to do part of it.........Ron

The severed turn signal wires are a sign the car has been repainted by someone who knows nothing about the 911.

The turn signal housings have a harness that plugs into the chassis harness at the body point mounting. No need to cut them, just unplug. Unknowledgeable painters just cut them.

If you search for new or used turn signal housings the harnesses should be complete and uncut. I kept an eye on ebay and finally got all 4, nice and new, at pretty decent prices. It took awhile but they are out there.

Good luck!!!

$1600 for a new harness, concours perfect with German connectors.

Or you could fix the current one, time consuming but probably worth it.
